Overview
Located in Italy, The Bologna Children’s Book Fair is a book conference event that brings people from all areas of the creative realm together to celebrate the various illustrative styles in children’s literature.
My Approach
I’m taking this annual conference to the next level and giving it a theme: nostalgia. I want to give a nod to the roots of children’s books and remind people of the stories they grew up reading.
The Brand System
Original vs Themed Logo
For this event, I kept the basic structure of the original logo and altered the texture and colors. I wanted a slightly “rough feeling” like the scratchiness you’d see from drawings in older books.
Typography
These two fonts are both reminiscent of the type you’d find in older books, with New Century Schoolbook being the more classic tone as New Farm Light takes on the whimsical appeal.
Color Palette
A neutral color scheme, going for a soft appeal.
Pattern
Made from the logo and tweaked slightly, this will be used on multiple items, including promotional banners and conference gifts, and event materials.

Promotional Marketing
The Website
I went with a clean and simple layout to match the style of older books. The event information ranks first in importance, so that is prominently featured on the home page of both the web and mobile versions.
Digital Ad Banners
Digital ads will be promoted globally. These can be found on the sidebars of websites, on social media, popups, etc., and navigate the user to the home page of the BCBF website.
Around Town
Signs will be placed within a certain radius of the event venue to encourage local participation.
Event Assets
The idea here is to have a chip inside the wristband, allowing guests to upload credit/debit information for ease of pay. This would be optional, of course. This would also act as proof for entry and re-entry.
